Suzuki Owners Club: A Community for Riders

The Suzuki Owners Club of Great Britain was born out of the growing passion for Suzuki motorcycles. What began in the early 1970s as an idea within the 171 Motorcycle Club soon grew into a dedicated organisation for Suzuki riders across the country.

Today, the Suzuki Owners Club welcomes everyone with a love for Suzuki motorcycles, whether you own one or just appreciate the brand. We’re here to bring Suzuki enthusiasts together through a strong, welcoming community, hosting events, providing resources, and creating connections among riders.

Why Join the Suzuki Owners Club?

The Club offers members a chance to be part of a supportive and vibrant Suzuki community, with benefits that make membership worthwhile:

  • Events and Meetups: We organize regular rides, social gatherings, rallies, and charity events across the UK. Members can meet fellow enthusiasts, share experiences, and enjoy their bikes.
  • Exclusive Benefits: Members enjoy discounts on parts, accessories, and services from a wide range of dealers and suppliers. Additionally, the Club offers special rates on motorcycle insurance.
  • Bi-Monthly Magazine—The Hustler: Keep up with news, events, technical articles, and club updates in our members-only magazine.
  • Affiliations: Members receive affiliated membership to the British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF), Motorcycle Action Group (MAG), and the National Association for Bikers with Disabilities (NABD). We also support FEMA’s work across Europe.
  • Club Competitions: Every year, members compete for trophies based on attendance and mileage, with winners celebrated at our Annual General Meeting (AGM).

A Club Built by Riders for Riders

The Suzuki Owners Club is run by a dedicated team of volunteers elected by our members. From organizing events to supporting new branches, every aspect of the Club is managed by riders like you. While we work closely with Suzuki to promote the brand, we’re an independent organization driven by our members' passion.

Our Story and Legacy

The Suzuki Owners Club began as a grassroots movement in Manchester in 1973. Founded by enthusiasts who saw the need for a Suzuki-focused community, the Club quickly expanded across the UK and internationally. Today, we have centers across the UK, as well as sister organizations in the USA and Denmark. From our first meetups in Manchester and London to current-day events and competitions, our history is rooted in the dedication of riders who love their Suzuki motorcycles.

The first combined meeting of North & South Suzuki Owners was held at the 171 club, the southern guys riding up in really heavy rain. There was, from all accounts, a good turnout, which made their efforts worthwhile. The church has now been demolished, and as far as is known, the 171 Motorcycle Club faded away at the same time.

The initial committees for the respective Suzuki Owners Club centres were:
Northern centre
James Denton, Secretary
Charles Parr, PRO
Southern centre
Raye Marshall Secretary
Ian Barr Treasurer
Julian Clark social secretary
Tony Fagan PRO
Peter Redman, Editor

The initial meeting places were: Northern 171 club, Openshaw, Manchester.
Southern: 'Cranbrook', Brookmill Road, Deptford.

The first annual membership fee for the club was £1.80 (plus 20p for a membership badge), for which the Northern members got the use of all the facilities at the 171 club, which included legal aid, a coffee bar, reading room, shop, recreation room and a games room which could be turned into a cinema if required.

The Suzuki Owners Club is an independent Club, and whilst Suzuki does not own us, we work in close partnership with Suzuki, supporting them and promoting the Suzuki marque at every opportunity. We are a family-oriented club and have many young people amongst our ranks. Some of these youngsters work just as hard as their parents when out and about with the Club.

It is the belief that if we teach our young members to respect bikes, to be aware of the dangers of motorcycling and to learn what motorcycling is all about, they will then become safer and better motorcyclists in the years ahead.

Become Part of the Legacy

Join us and be part of a community that celebrates Suzuki and the spirit of motorcycling. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or new to Suzuki, the Club is here to support you, connect you with fellow enthusiasts, and make your riding experience even more rewarding. We look forward to welcoming you!
